Home fires and other disasters can occur any time, any place. As a Disaster Action Team volunteer, you’ll provide emotional support, financial assistance, and information to help families begin the process of recovery.

We are looking for volunteers to join our team to be on-call purely for translation assistance to ensure we have the workforce able to serve our population. 

After your initial training and orientation, you will join a team of dedicated and passionate volunteers to be on-call when your language skills are needed. With experience and further training you can take on leadership and response coordination roles to have a wider impact. At the same time, you’ll be developing skills that you may choose to apply to larger-scale disaster response efforts with the Red Cross.

During Disasters Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officers are the behind-the-scenes heroes who coordinate local emergency responses as they unfold. From the comfort of your home, you’ll ensure that people affected by disasters receive the care and support they need by dispatching trained volunteers to the scene.

What You’ll Do:

Monitor incoming disaster alerts and assess response needs

Dispatch Red Cross volunteers to provide immediate assistance

Communicate clearly and calmly with team members and affected individuals

Use Red Cross systems to track and manage response activities

Free rein offers both adaptive riding and a military horsemanship program. 

Right now we are beginning our Spring Session (March - May) and we are in need of more volunteers to sign up and join our family!

Providing something as simple as warm gloves, thick socks and handwarmers can help protect fingers and toes from frostbite injuries. The Family Housing Network Safe Parking Site needs your help to help ensure that there are enough mittens and gloves to distribute ALL winter long.

We are asking community members and groups to help pack kits that include these winter essentials:

-Adult size gloves/ mittens (adult and kid sizes)

-Hand-warmers -

-Foot-warmers/toe-warmers

-Thick winter socks

-Hand lotion (to protect wind chapped hands)

-A kind and encouraging note

Groups will need to supply their own materials. This is a great project for individuals and youth groups.

Be part of a joyful fundraising day that supports Believe in Me’s work for marginalized youth. Volunteers are essential — you’ll meet great people, support scholarships and programs, and help deliver a smooth, fun event. Clean Start Community Services is seeking a dedicated volunteer Board Member with experience or interest in fundraising, grant writing, or donor development to support our early-stage nonprofit growth.

This board role will help strengthen Clean Start’s financial sustainability by supporting fundraising strategy, grant research, donor outreach, and community partnerships. Pawsitive Alliance’s biggest strengths are marketing, organizing, fundraising, and collaborating.  We work with more than 50 human and animal-welfare partners each year. This virtual role provides follow-up and recovery planning services for individuals and households following home fires or disasters, including referrals. Caseworkers make initial contact with the client within 48 hours of the disaster. Work with clients to get connected with resources. All training is provided.

The Red Cross Club Coordinator serves as a liaison between the Red Cross and Club student leadership. They help to create and maintain an environment where youth (high school & college aged students) feel empowered to lead and mobilize peers in community service projects addressing local and global issues. Club Coordinators support school year start up, help document activities and hours, and attend monthly Club meetings and events throughout the school year, virtually! Events may include hosting blood drives, personal care item drives for veterans, fundraising, and disaster preparedness campaigns. This can be served as an all-virtual opportunity! Hopelink is looking for volunteer career advisers for the English for Work program!

Fall quarter is already underway, so we are looking for advisers for our winter and spring quarters. The next New Adviser Onboarding meetings will be held in January and April 2026.

About English for Work and the Adviser Role

English for Work is a quarter-long English language program, designed for immigrants and refugees who are planning to get a job (or a better job) or enroll in college/job training in the next six months or so. In the class, students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while learning about U.S. work culture, career goal setting, resume writing, and interview preparation.

Each adviser is assigned 2-3 students for the quarter. Advisers work one-on-one with their assigned students, supporting them in setting short-term and long-term career goals, resume writing, English practice, applying for jobs, and preparing for job interviews. Advisers primarily meet with students virtually, with occasional in-person opportunities at local libraries or other local public meeting spaces if student transportation allows.

This is a great role for working folks because the meeting schedules can be flexible. It’s also great for recently retired folks who are looking for ways to give back to the community and share their industry expertise!

We provide training and support to volunteers throughout the quarter.

KMRE wants people who are interested in local media and believe in the power of community radios. Producers are responsible for creating an outline for the story they are telling, coordinating recording sessions, and editing the recordings into a final product. Producers work in the KMRE studios, as well as out in the community. Producers are assigned stories, and also pitch their own ideas.

This position requires the ability to listen and communicate well and use recording, sound board and editing equipment and programs. No previous experience required! We exist to train and educate as well as bring community voices and sounds to life.

Home studio producers/podcasts are welcome to propose a program.

KMRE is a non-commercial, community operated radio station. The station's programming features local news in addition to roots music, conversational and educational programs, and arts & culture.
Our local news is "by our community, for our community". Local people gather, write, and announce the news. There are opportunities for news writers, field reporters, and announcers.
Experience with print or broadcast journalism is helpful, but not required. Other station volunteers can provide training. If you have the desire to help shine a light on local news and create a more informed community, come join us.

Volunteer graphic designer will help the station by designing digital and print assets to promote KMRE, encourage listenership, and increase underwriting. Materials may include individual posters, postcards for shows, web graphics, an annual report with a dashboard, custom icons and a limited edition t-shirt graphics for the benefit of the station. Core volunteers are the foundation of support that StandUp for Kids relies upon to offer support to homeless youth in Kitsap County.  Volunteers may choose from a number of roles to support our mission.  Those roles include: 

Food Bag Assembly: Periodically work with others to prepare weekend food bags, which are distributed to homeless and at risk youth through the school systems. 

Inventory Support: Periodically organize items which are packed into weekend food bags.  May include assisting with picking up donated or purchased items from local outlets. 

Delivery Driver:  Our primary distribution method is to supply schools with food and hygiene packs.  The school partners then distribute them to the students.  Delivery is generally one day on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.  Personal vehicle is necessary to deliver packs. 

Food Drive Support– Help in two hour shifts at food drives, which provide a significant contribution to our weekend food bag distribution. 

Community Outreach Booth Worker– Help in two hour shifts at events like Pride, Whaling Days, etc.  Represent StandUp for Kids, sharing information about how we can help homeless youth, and how people can volunteer or donate to support our efforts. 

Fundraising Auction Support: Assist with our annual auction.  Many opportunities to help at our Fall Gala Fundraiser.

The Fundraising & Marketing Committee supports creative and strategic fundraising and marketing activities under the guidance of development staff.

This includes attending monthly meetings, contributing to the development and execution of fundraising and marketing events and campaigns, communicating fundraising priorities to the rest of the BoD and encouraging individual fundraising efforts. You will have the opportunity to gain greater insight into how to support the financial needs of executing quality programming.

The Neighborhood Farmers Markets (NFM) is on a mission to support and strengthen Washington's small farms and producers by creating and operating vibrant, successful neighborhood farmers markets. Our seven markets serve over 165 producers, from vegetable growers and orchardists to tribal fishing families and cider makers. In 2023, they enabled more than $14.5 million in local, sustainably-produced food sales to Seattle residents. The Board is actively working to recruit 2 to 3 new board members this Spring, as well as non-voting committee members to support the mission of NFM and the market community. Philanthropic Commitment: We believe the source of our commitment begins within those who are closest to the work, including the staff and board. In order to credibly solicit contributions from foundations or individuals, NFM expects board members to make a personal contribution to the organization and recognizes a wide range of opportunities to do so. 2) procuring and donating inkind items for fundraising efforts

3) a financial gift that is personally significant.

Neighborhood House’s Youth Engagement Program offers academic assistance, engagement through project based learning and social emotional learning, as well as other supports to youth and their families. We are seeking volunteers to engage with youth in grades K-12 to teach a new skill or activity. Some examples include: If you are passionate about fitness you could teach a series of at-home workouts! If you are a crafter and want to share out how to crochet, we can have a class on that! Professional photographers that can teach youth how to take expert photos with the phone cameras! The possibilities are endless in this remote setting. If reasonable, supplies can be distributed to youth to make sessions interactive.

SCF Volunteers are the reason we are able to make the impact we do to seniors across the nation. Volunteers write cards that make seniors excited about their day! Senior Care First runs solely because of the support we receive from our volunteers.

At Senior Care First, we believe that any sized effort to make a difference is a difference nonetheless. Making cards for seniors have such a huge impact on their days. Volunteers like YOU help them feel a little less alone each day. This effort started with small motivational cards for senior citizens to help them get through this day, and has grown to include seasonal cards for the holidays.

Writing cards for seniors is not only to put lighten up the days of seniors but also to let them know there is a support system outside of their homes filled with loving young members of their community. There is no specific way to make the cards since YOU, the volunteer, have creative liberty. However, we encourage volunteers to use bright colors and inspiring messages to share love for the seniors. We have heard several positive messages from senior homes after receiving cards from SCF. From writing general motivational and inspiring cards to holiday related cards, we give them all.

The Grant Research Volunteer position involves actively participating in the Research Committee, a team of dedicated volunteers that provides valuable insights and recommendations to the Board and Foundation staff regarding grant research strategies and funding opportunities. This role focuses on conducting research for potential grants and contributing to budgeting recommendations necessary to facilitate successful grant acquisition.

Orientation and Training

This role is purely voluntary, and this arrangement is not meant to be legally binding to an employment contract. Out-of-pocket travel costs between home and volunteering place will be offered. 

Road2Home works with the people who are living unsheltered.  Staff and volunteers help them navigate through a complex system to ultimately obtain permanent housing.  Sometimes progress is hampered by outstanding legal issues associated with historical evictions, past due rents, charges that are outstanding, and other situations.  In situations such as these, someone with knowledge of the law and instruction on how to move forward is necessary.

We are looking for someone with the legal experience and capacity to assist, on a pro bono basis.  Your guidance is needed in the resolution of these issues so we can continue progressing on the road to a permanent home for people in our programs.

Why This Role Matters?

Child sponsorship is a lifeline for the vulnerable youth living in our homes at Niños con Valor in Bolivia. It provides them with safe, loving homes, access to education, healthcare, and the support they need to overcome challenges and build brighter futures.

A key part of sponsorship is the connection between sponsors and the children they support. Through letters, updates, and special celebrations like birthdays, sponsors bring encouragement and hope to these young lives.

As a Child Sponsorship Communication Volunteer, you’ll help make these meaningful connections possible. By managing correspondence and keeping sponsors informed, your role ensures that both sponsors and children feel valued and supported. Your efforts will directly impact the youth in our care, helping them grow with confidence and a sense of belonging

Responsibilities: 

Work with Sponsorship Program Coordinator to communicate directly with donors on any updates or reminders we need to send them. 

PEPS is a non-profit organization that connects parents to strengthen families and build community through parent peer-support groups. 

PEPS groups meet weekly and are facilitated by a PEPS-trained Leader. Each meeting allows parents the opportunity to share the week's concerns, successes, issues, and joys as well as time for a discussion on topics related to parenting and children (sleeping, feeding, adjusting to parenthood, etc.) The PEPS program model is based on the 5 Protective Factors from Strengthening Families, which help build resilient families, positive connections and support for parents, and reduce negative outcomes, such as abuse and neglect. 

98% of PEPS groups are facilitated by volunteers who are deeply rooted in our community and passionate about supporting new parents through the first critical months of life with a new baby. Over 4000 families rely on PEPS volunteers each year.

PEPS facilitators are compassionate, empathetic, resourceful, and real. They don't have all the answers, but they are passionate about helping parents, generating ideas, finding information, and building neighborhood communities together.

Some leaders give back as a way of honoring their own PEPS experience. Many are new to PEPS. All tell us they find great joy and satisfaction in helping new parents connect and share through their PEPS groups.

We appreciate warm, sensitive communicators, who are accepting of varied child-rearing practices and diverse lifestyles. Interest in early childhood development, experience in education or facilitation, previous PEPS group participation, or being a parent yourself are welcome pluses.

Groups meet for 2 hrs each week in the daytime [10-:30 - 12:30] or in the Evening [6:30 - 8:30], the same day each week for 12 weeks. Leaders commit to working with their group for 12 consecutive weeks, fewer if you choose to co-lead with a friend, spouse, partner, or colleague. PEPS provides specialized training and group leaders have access to experienced PEPS staff mentorship and a wealth of resources online.

The Whatcom Literacy Council is member of ProLiteracy America, and a United Way partner agency.  We provide free one-to-one tutoring and small classes. Our tutors can work with learners throughout Whatcom County at a public meeting place and at times that fit our learners' busy schedules.

Nearly a million healthy animals in the United States are euthanized each year because of overpopulation, and spaying and neutering is the only real long-term solution to the problem. As a foster-based rescue, we can only take in a limited amount of dogs at one time. Our spay and neuter program is an essential step toward our ultimate goal: a world that's free of homeless, neglected, abused, and abandoned animals.
