Volunteer: Community Meal Program

Help feed the women who call Jubilee Women's Center home! In this moment when the cost of food keeps rising and SNAP benefits are shrinking, Monday Melas have become one way we meet the women who call Jubilee home exactly where they are. Many of our residents are balancing full course loads, multiple jobs, and long commutes. They are doing everything they can to build stability, yet the hours between classes and shifts do not leave much space for grocery trips or waiting in food bank lines. Having a fresh, ready meal to come home to at the start of the week helps ease that load. Leftovers can stretch into lunches or quick dinners later in the week, offering both nourishment and a sense of calm in the middle of so much uncertainty.

If you enjoy cooking and want to share your skills, sign up to prepare and drop off a community meal. Your support helps ease the daily load for the women who are working hard everyday to rebuild stability in their lives.

Volunteer: Neighborhood Cleanup in Walla Walla

Come out and help your fellow community members build pride in their neighborhood!

The City of Walla Walla hosts several cleanup events in underserved neighborhoods each year. The City provides 30-yard dumpsters for residents in these neighborhoods to dispose of unwanted clutter and materials.

Starting this year, we are welcoming volunteers to attend the events to assist with things like operating the registration table, loading materials into vehicles, moving materials from vehicles to the dumpsters, monitoring the dumpsters, trimming grass and vegetation, etc.

A free lunchtime meal will be provided for neighbors and volunteers.

The location of the neighborhood will be provided to registered volunteers on May 29, 2026. The locations are not publicized, as there is a concern that people who don't live in the target neighborhoods will take advantage of the opportunity and fill the dumpsters with garbage from other areas.

When: Saturday, May 23rd 10AM-2PM

Where: Morin Trailhead, Riverside State Park

Getting There: From West Trails Road/Government Way, turn North onto N Riverside State Park Drive and follow the road to its end where you will reach Morin Trailhead. We will meet in this lot for our safety briefing and then divide and conquer!

Volunteer: Dinner Drop Off Teams

The Family Housing Network Safe Parking Site Program is a 90-day housing program for families and single adults who are living in their cars. Our site is a safe place for sites guests to park their vehicles overnight and access services.

We use a Meal Train Calendar to coordinate dinners at the site. Anyone in the community is welcome to donate a dinner. Drop off is at 6 pm. Dinners can be homemade or store-bought. The idea is that it's something ready to serve and accompanied with disposable silverware/plates.

We usually need dinners for 18-25 people. The Meal Train Calendar is updated frequently to reflect current guest counts as clients move in and out of the site.

To sign up to donate a dinner or learn more, please visit https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/mg49q7.

If you have additional questions, please contact Megan Edwin, Volunteer Coordinator

at meganed@ccsww.org or call 253-365-4111. Groups or individuals who wish to serve meals onsite would need to register to become volunteers. This is not required for meal drop off.

Volunteer: Keeping It Cool Kits

The Family Housing Network Safe Parking Site is seeking volunteer groups to make "Keeping It Cool Kits" for the hot summer months ahead. Kits are intended to be distributed to site guests/residents who are living in their cars.

"Keeping It Cool Kits" are care kits packed with hot weather essentials like this:

Water bottle or Gatorade/PoweradeOtter-pops (site guests have access to a freezer)Travel size sunblockTravel size deodorantPaper hand fans or battery powered hand fansIndividual drink powders (Crystal Lights or electrolyte powder)A nice note or encouraging message

Kits can be packed in Ziploc-style baggies or paper lunch sacks. This is a new project we're piloting so there is no right or wrong way to pack a "Keeping it Cool Kit". It's all about keeping folks safe from heat during the summer. Kindness and creativity go  a long way.

Groups that are interested in packing care kits would need to supply their own materials.

Since it's an offsite project, we don't require a lot of volunteer paperwork. We just ask for basic info for the group leader (name, contact info and DOB). We ask that groups log their hours (essentially a sign in sheet) so we can use that data for monthly volunteer reports and grant proposals.

Interested in learning more? Email meganed@ccsww.org or call 253-365-4111 to reach Megan Edwin, Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer: Disasters harm families. Can you help?

Every day, the American Red Cross sees the heartbreak of people trying to cope with more intense storms, heavier rainfall, higher temperatures, stronger hurricanes and more devastating wildfires.

As more people rely on the Red Cross for help, the need for compassionate volunteers has never been greater.

Volunteers help comfort and support people who are forced from their homes due to fires, storms and other emergencies, so they don’t have to face tough times alone. Join us and turn your compassion into action by becoming a volunteer today. We are actively recruiting for these critical volunteer roles:

Shelter Support Team: During large disasters, you can support the day-to-day activities within a shelter which may include working in reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information or other areas within a shelter. Free online training will be provided. If the need arises, volunteers are asked to commit to multiple local shifts of 4-12 hours each. For those able to travel outside of their local area, a commitment of at least 14 consecutive days, working 8- or 12-hour shifts is required.

Disaster Health Services Team: During large disasters, you can use your professional skills as a licensed healthcare provider to deliver hands on care and education to shelter residents. Free online training will be provided and can count towards nursing continuing education units. If the need arises, volunteers are asked to commit to multiple local shifts of 4-12 hours each. Disaster Action Team: While big hurricanes and wildfires get the most news coverage, smaller disasters are no less devastating to the families affected. Most of the 60,000 emergencies that the Red Cross responds to each year are smaller disasters like home fires. As a Disaster Action Team volunteer, you can help comfort and support people in your community by meeting any immediate needs such as food, shelter, clothing or supplies and connecting them to long term recovery services. We supply all the training you need.

Agency: American Red Cross

Volunteer: Become a Mentor with the U-District Mentoring Program!

At U-District Mentoring, we believe that everyone has something to offer as a mentor. It doesn’t take much to greatly impact a child's life. By showing up consistently, for four hours each month, you can help to decrease depression symptoms, increase self confidence, and encourage higher educational goals for your mentee. Forming these relationships and expanding a child’s horizons can be one of the most rewarding experiences.

Unlike other mentoring programs, we don’t have a waitlist of children. Instead, we intentionally match the mentor and the child based on interests and experiences. Hoping to be matched with a child that likes to paint or play sports? With the help of school counselors, we work to find that perfect match.

The commitment level is easy, even for the busiest of people. You can create the schedule and get to plan each outing!
