Providing something as simple as warm gloves, thick socks and handwarmers can help protect fingers and toes from frostbite injuries. The Family Housing Network Safe Parking Site needs your help to help ensure that there are enough mittens and gloves to distribute ALL winter long.

We are asking community members and groups to help pack kits that include these winter essentials:

-Adult size gloves/ mittens (adult and kid sizes)

-Hand-warmers -

We need volunteers to help us have a presence at various community events throughout the year.

Schedules vary:  Some are on weekends for 2 to 3 hour shifts

We seek a pool of volunteers now and people willing to share the Fig Tree story.

Some are evenings and some are week days.  Some will be outdoors as weather warms.

Having displays at community events increased our visibility and helps us introduce The Fig Tree to new readers.

The Fig Tree needs volunteers to assist with updating, organizing, proofreading and distributing the annual Directory of Congregations and Community Resources. Different tasks are needed throughout the year. The directory is a vital resource for connecting the faith and nonprofit communities, helping their leaders in making referrals, and connecting people with opportunities to serve.  Assist with research in March to May, editing in May and June, distribution in August and September and into fall.

The Fig Tree sponsors various educational events and opportunities for dialogue on issues of concern in the community and society. We are recruiting a team of people to help plan ecumenical dialogue events, the Eastern Washington Legislative Conference in January, interfaith dialogues and discussions, and other event opportunities that arise. In addition to meetings, there are responsibilities for arrangements, as well as for volunteer recruitment.

Meetings are on Zoom.

Duty Officer (disaster hotline volunteer)- The Duty officer is the first line of contact for First Responders. Police/Fire/Ambulance calls the Red Cross disaster hotline and the Duty Officer is the one that receives the call, takes down all the pertinent information, and then calls the DAT team and relays the information (Example: Home fire at __ location, 4 Adults, 2 kids, a dog and a cat all need services). Then the DAT team responds in person to the event and provides immediate assistance. Calls are relayed from the hotline to your personal cell phone.

Duty Officers coordinate with our Disaster Action Team members to initialize a disaster or emergency response. When a fire, flood, or other disaster occurs, our central Hotline phone will forward to your personal cell phone. You then contact our team members to dispatch them to respond to various situations.

ELAP currently has a high need for experienced pro bono attorneys in the areas of:

ELAP staff provide on-boarding and ongoing practical support. Commitment is typically 1-3 hours per month. Most clinics are held virtually, so you can volunteer easily from your home or office. support, travel and accommodation costs in relation to Board Member duties.

Pawsitive Alliance advances are mission through our three programs: 

Adoption program: #WhyNotMePets campaign, highlighting long-term homeless pets, and supporting adoption opportunities to help homeless pets finds homes 

Spay/Neuter: providing vouchers and financial and logistical support to increase surgeries and access to end pet overpopulation and suffering 

Pet retention: collecting and distributing pet food and supplies and offering pet ID tags and microchips to keep pets thriving with their caretakers 

Our programs and activities prioritize increasing services for pets, people, and places across Washington state with few resources. 

Pawsitive Alliance’s biggest strengths are marketing, organizing, fundraising, and collaborating.  We work with more than 50 human and animal-welfare partners each year. Since 2005, we have helped over 8,000 animals find homes, delivered over 170,000 pounds of donated pet food, and facilitated more than 11,000 spay and neuter surgeries.

Join the Walk to Defeat ALS Planning Committee

Help make a difference in the fight against ALS! The Walk to Defeat ALS Planning Committee brings together passionate volunteers to plan and promote one of our community’s most inspiring fundraising events.

This is a great opportunity to use your skills in community outreach, event planning, or fundraising while connecting with others who share a commitment to supporting people living with ALS. Together, we can make every step count toward a world without ALS.

Time Commitment:

Committee members typically volunteer 2–4 hours per month, including a 1 hour monthly planning meeting (virtual) and other outreach or event tasks as the Walk approaches. Meetings kick off January 2026.

This virtual role provides follow-up and recovery planning services for individuals and households following home fires or disasters, including referrals. Caseworkers make initial contact with the client within 48 hours of the disaster. Work with clients to get connected with resources. All training is provided.

The Red Cross Club Coordinator serves as a liaison between the Red Cross and Club student leadership. They help to create and maintain an environment where youth (high school & college aged students) feel empowered to lead and mobilize peers in community service projects addressing local and global issues. Club Coordinators support school year start up, help document activities and hours, and attend monthly Club meetings and events throughout the school year, virtually! Events may include hosting blood drives, personal care item drives for veterans, fundraising, and disaster preparedness campaigns. This can be served as an all-virtual opportunity! Evening and weekend availability preferred. 

Hopelink is looking for volunteer career advisers for the English for Work program!

Fall quarter is already underway, so we are looking for advisers for our winter and spring quarters. The next New Adviser Onboarding meetings will be held in January and April 2026.

About English for Work and the Adviser Role

English for Work is a quarter-long English language program, designed for immigrants and refugees who are planning to get a job (or a better job) or enroll in college/job training in the next six months or so. In the class, students improve English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while learning about U.S. work culture, career goal setting, resume writing, and interview preparation.

Each adviser is assigned 2-3 students for the quarter. Advisers work one-on-one with their assigned students, supporting them in setting short-term and long-term career goals, resume writing, English practice, applying for jobs, and preparing for job interviews. Advisers primarily meet with students virtually, with occasional in-person opportunities at local libraries or other local public meeting spaces if student transportation allows.

This is a great role for working folks because the meeting schedules can be flexible. It’s also great for recently retired folks who are looking for ways to give back to the community and share their industry expertise!

We provide training and support to volunteers throughout the quarter.

Adviser Requirements:

Interested in telling audio stories? Want to bring local communities, issues, news, or music to the airwaves?

KMRE wants people who are interested in local media and believe in the power of community radios. Producers are responsible for creating an outline for the story they are telling, coordinating recording sessions, and editing the recordings into a final product. Producers work in the KMRE studios, as well as out in the community. Producers are assigned stories, and also pitch their own ideas.

This position requires the ability to listen and communicate well and use recording, sound board and editing equipment and programs. No previous experience required! We exist to train and educate as well as bring community voices and sounds to life.

Home studio producers/podcasts are welcome to propose a program.

KMRE is a non-commercial, community operated radio station. The station's programming features local news in addition to roots music, conversational and educational programs, and arts & culture.
Our local news is "by our community, for our community". Local people gather, write, and announce the news. There are opportunities for news writers, field reporters, and announcers.
Experience with print or broadcast journalism is helpful, but not required. Other station volunteers can provide training. If you have the desire to help shine a light on local news and create a more informed community, come join us.

Volunteer graphic designer will help the station by designing digital and print assets to promote KMRE, encourage listenership, and increase underwriting. KMRE is expanding our signal and we're seeking a professional, experienced Grant Writer, who is primarily responsible for developing and writing grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations and will persuasively communicate our mission and programs to potential funders. The Grant Writer researches, writes, and prepares government, foundation, and corporate grant proposals and reports that align with KMRE's mission.

Core volunteers are the foundation of support that StandUp for Kids relies upon to offer support to homeless youth in Kitsap County.  Volunteers may choose from a number of roles to support our mission.  Those roles include: 

Food Bag Assembly: Periodically work with others to prepare weekend food bags, which are distributed to homeless and at risk youth through the school systems. 

Inventory Support: Periodically organize items which are packed into weekend food bags.  May include assisting with picking up donated or purchased items from local outlets. 

Delivery Driver:  Our primary distribution method is to supply schools with food and hygiene packs.  The school partners then distribute them to the students.  Delivery is generally one day on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.  Personal vehicle is necessary to deliver packs. 

Food Drive Support– Help in two hour shifts at food drives, which provide a significant contribution to our weekend food bag distribution. 

Community Outreach Booth Worker– Help in two hour shifts at events like Pride, Whaling Days, etc.  Represent StandUp for Kids, sharing information about how we can help homeless youth, and how people can volunteer or donate to support our efforts. 

Fundraising Auction Support: Assist with our annual auction.  Many opportunities to help at our Fall Gala Fundraiser.

Founded in 1992, StandUp for Kids - Kitsap County is an all-volunteer chapter that assists unaccompanied, homeless, and at-risk youth ages 12-24 with basic necessities, and collaborates with other community partners to provide these teens and young adults the support they need to help them transition from surviving to THRIVING!  We have many volunteer opportunities available, so give us a call!
