Program Volunteers are essential in providing assistance to our participants with direction from our licensed therapists and certified riding instructors. 

Over 350 volunteers are needed to help Little Bit groom and tack horses and support people with disabilities during lessons and treatments.

Program Volunteers commit to a weekly volunteer time to provide consistency for our participants. Two-hour volunteer shifts are available 8am- 8-pm, Monday - Saturday. We ask new volunteers for a six-month commitment.

Our double carport has about a half a foot of silt and mud in it.  That needs to be cleaned out. Silt gets tracked on the outside decks.  They need to be cleaned off.

There are mold concerns. That needs to be taken care of. 

Most of our walls have up to 4 ft of sheetrock and insulation removed.  That needs to be taped,replaced.  Walls textured and painted.

Flooring, Underlayment,  LVP laid, baseboards replaced.

Our deck facing the river got some damage from the flow. Some structural damage. 

We need some electrical work done (wall heaters replaced etc.)

This volunteer opportunity will assist our team to pick up, log, and put away our weekly Walmart donations; complete physical inventories and some reorganization as needed (Saturday Storage Parties per quarter); and help with pulling items for a designated neighbor in need. Minimum lifting capability of 25 lbs required.

FRIDAY MORNING AVALABILITY (0830-1130) IS REQUIRED!

Guests staying at Nativity House Shelter are stressed AND bored. If you are someone who likes to bring the fun- you are welcome!

We are looking for volunteers to play a casual game of chess with shelter guests (we have some pretty good chess players) or if so inclined help plan and facilitate board game nights at the shelter.

Scheduling is flexible but hours align with set meal times. We need volunteers who can help for 1-3 hours.

Do you and your friends love to cook? Consider recruiting a small group of friends to come cook and serve meals at Nativity House Shelter.

Scheduling is flexible. We realize that volunteers have busy lives and we'll work with you to design a plan that fits busy schedules.

Nativity House Shelter is 167-bed shelter serving adult men and women who are actively experiencing homelessness in Tacoma. The Nativity House Kitchen serves 3-meals a day and needs volunteers who know how to cook for a crowd.

Groups often plan meals like pancakes, casseroles, bulgogi/teriyaki, spaghetti & meatballs, hotdogs and sloppy joes.

Groups are encouraged to use ingredients available in the kitchen to build a menu and/or donate their own ingredients based on whatever they want to cook.

If groups are more comfortable serving instead of cooking, just let us know. We always need servers on the cafeteria line. 

The Nativity House Kitchen provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7 days a week, 365 days per year so there is always an opportunity to serve.

Excelsior Wellness has ongoing opportunities to volunteer your expertise or gain experience in our support service departments. Assistance in marketing, social media management, clerical, records management, reception, medical billing, grant writing and development, database management, information services, credentialing support and more.

Create Space is the MAC’s family activity space. It is geared toward families with children from 1 to 12, but open for visitors of all ages. There are exhibition-related crafts available for families in this space, as well as coloring pages, books, building materials, and other educational toys. As a volunteer in Create Space, you will welcome guests of all ages into the space, offer help with activities, and direct visitors to gallery spaces. You will encourage creativity and interaction with themed activities. You will also test activities made available for guests, and suggest age-appropriate ones to visitors. There will also be opportunities to prep supplies for regular and special programming, such as Plateau Basket Weaving and Campbell House Holidays. With Youth Education staff oversight, the option to develop your own crafts and activities is a possibility. This position is ideal for volunteers who enjoy crafts, working with young children, and have an interest in sparking both curiosity and creativity in visitors.

The Spokane River Centennial Trail is always in need of clean-up to keep it in good condition for residents and visitors seeking recreation and active transportation.  Individuals and community groups can pick up litter, pull weeds, and sweep debris from the Trail to welcome our 2.4 million users every year.

Volunteers needed on one to two Mondays a month to call Bingo, or help with Bingo, from 1pm-3pm. You will be calling Bingo to a group of 25 seniors using a professional Bingo system which includes a casino grade ball spinner. Mainly looking for the third Monday of the month and back-up Bingo caller. 

High energy and flexible attitude is desired! 

No experience needed. Training will be provided. 

Every Thursday morning we need volunteers to transport our orders from KidVantage in Issaquah to our storage unit (also in Issaquah) where the items are sorted in prepartion for delivery to the families' homes.   A larger vehicle is a plus but we can fit a lot even into a sedan! 

Deliver essential needs to children in need - diapers, car seats, clothing, etc.   Pick up your route's orders in Issaquah and deliver to low-income refugee and immigrant families in either south King County, Seattle or the north end.   Orders are ready Thursday at noon and can be delivered anytime between then and Sunday night, even Monday if needed.  Sign up for the week/week-ends of your choice.

Child Advocates needed! We are looking for a select group of people with extraordinary hearts to volunteer as Guardians ad Litem to represent to the best interest of children in the foster care system. There is an exceptional need for Native American and Hispanic volunteers.

We are planning our next in person training group and would love to hear from you!

We have an ongoing need for everyday people to volunteer as Guardians ad Litem (GAL) to represent to the court the best interest of our children in care. There are over 200 children in Skagit county who are abandoned or victims of abuse or neglect. We need people in our community to be a voice for these children. Our next training is coming up and we would love to tell you more about how you can advocate for an abused or neglected child.

VGALs are community volunteers who are appointed by judges to advocate in court for abused and/or neglected children. When a child is in danger living at home, the Department of Children, Youth and Family (DCYF) may step in and say that the child needs to be moved to a safe environment. In order to determine what circumstances will keep the child safe, the case is brought to court where a judge will rule where the child should go.

Once a case is brought to court, the judge appoints a GAL volunteer to the child. The GAL volunteer researches the child's situation - this includes talking to the child as well as the child's parents, teachers, counselors... anyone who plays a significant role in the child's life - and then forms an educated recommendation as to what is in that child's best interests to maintain well-being and encourage safe permanency. Once the GAL volunteer determines the child's best interests, they write a report to the judge recommending a home placement (returning to their previous homes, foster care, staying with relatives...) and services to address any unique, unmet needs that the child has.

GAL volunteers spend an average of ten hours a month working on a case, though typically they spend more time at the beginning of a case than they do towards the end. Cases generally last at least a year, and we ask that each volunteer commits to remaining a volunteer as long as their case is open. Children face a constant rotation of judges, social workers, and foster homes, but all the while their GAL volunteer remains a stable and constant adult in their lives. Training is 30 hours over the course of 4 weeks.

Make a positive impact on the quality of life in our community by volunteering with Parks & Rec! With over 4,000 acres of protected green space and hundreds of recreation activities, volunteers are integral in helping Spokane keep our public spaces and recreation actives enjoyable and accessible to all. 

For this volunteer opportunity, we need help picking up litter in your local parks. All you need to bring is yourself! Volunteer at your leisure any time. Just let us know which park you'd like to volunteer at 48 hrs in advance so we can have supplies ready for you if needed. 

A Parks representative will email you within 72 hours of signing up to discuss the volunteer locations and hours with you.

At Garry Middle School Homework Club is Monday through Thursday 3:30pm-5:30pm. We are seeking 1-2 volunteers per day. They have about 20-30 students who attend on average each day. Any volunteers who sign up will be required to fill out a Spokane Public Schools background check. 

At North Central High School, the Homework Center meets Monday-Thursday from 2:30-4:30 pm, and they are seeking someone who can volunteer on a regular basis either weekly or bi-weekly, whichever is easier for scheduling. They are specifically looking for someone interested in supporting Chemistry who is able to come in on any of the days listed. This is high school level curriculum so it might be a bit harder to tutor if it isn't someone's area of expertise, but they would love consistent support.

Help Fund Independent Community Radio. Volunteer as a KYRS Grant Writer.

Come hang out at the TenTen center! We have basketball, skate, music studio, games, and more! Volunteering with YFC looks like engaging with youth in activities around the center to create a welcoming and safe environment for kids to encounter Jesus. 

The health center greeting team with Planned Parenthood of Greater Washington and North Idaho ensures patients are welcomed as they enter our facilities. Vetting and training processes include, but are not limited to, non-engagement tactics, how to approach patients, self- and fellow care, and more. You must be able to withstand the elements outside of clinic - heat, cold, verbal harassment, while maintaining a positive, patient-focused demeanor. Greeters deter patients from paying attention to or engaging with anti-Planned Parenthood protesters that frequent our health centers. Most importantly, this team does not engage with anti-choice protesters, always exercising our non-engagement policies.

Join Rally Club Seattle, a collaborative, after-school group mentor community with some amazing, thoughtful, creative, resilient, and hilarious teens and tweens.

Caring mentors like you create a welcoming, fun, and inclusive community that teens and tweens want to be a part of! Time is spent in larger group activities and well as in small groups and in giving individualized attention. Activities are tailored to youth interest, and may include arts and crafts, PE type games (relays, dodgeball), pickleball, ping pong, board games, cooking, homework help, and more. We take a collaborative approach to mentorship, with several mentors in place each week.

Our very low (2:1 to 3:1) child: adult ratios are designed to allow time for volunteers to get to know youth well and to allow flexibility in volunteers’ schedule. There are several locations and times, including options during the day at lunchtime as well as afterschool.

The goal of the Reading Buddy Program is to help children improve their reading skills & gain confidence as readers.

The program pairs volunteers, as mentors, with elementary school students.

Students meet with their reading buddy once per week for 8 weeks at the students’ school to read together one-on-one and foster a love of reading. Each reading buddy is a volunteer who has passed a background check and received training.

You can help a child improve their reading skills & gain confidence as a reader.

A reading buddy is a volunteer who loves reading and enjoys spending time with kids.

As a reading buddy, you meet with an elementary school student once per week for 8 weeks to read together one-on-one and foster a love of reading.

The Whatcom Literacy Council is a member of ProLiteracy America and a United Way partner agency.  We provide free one-to-one tutoring and small classes. Our tutors can work with learners throughout Whatcom County at a public meeting place and at times that fit our learners' busy schedules. 

Throughout the year WHEN has a number of events we host as well as a number of opportunities to have booths at community events.  WHEN needs volunteers to staff booths, throughout the year and to help with things such a setup/take down, greeting, ticket taking, registration, etc at our own events.

At the Mid-County Community Center, we help close to one thousand seniors a year and provide over 25,000 individual services to them. By volunteering to help as a mealsite volunteer you will be helping at one of Pierce County's highest attended and most Impactful senior mealsite programs. Your tasks will include assisting in table set-up, service of our multi-course plated lunch from kitchen to table, pouring beverages, cleaning-up, and putting away table & chairs after the meal is finished. Our lunch program serves 40-120 seniors daily depending on the day and/or special event. Washington Business Week (WBW) places professionals with high school students in a dynamic workplace simulation where students role play as industry professionals, launch a company, and solve real-world challenges.

As a Company Advisor (CA), you will be the team’s guide. This unique opportunity to educate and empower students also develops your leadership skills firsthand. Share your expertise in your team’s “workplace”, engage them in critical thinking exercises, and provide feedback on mission and vision.

Behind the scenes, you and other volunteer professionals from around the world will network, gain practical management insights from our program staff, and learn from each others’ experiences to inspire your team to victory.

Company Advisors often call WBW one of their favorite weeks of the year, as the week brings them deep fulfillment while also helping them grow as people and as leaders. You’ll be surprised by the lifelong connections you make with students and deep friendships and community you forge with other CAs.

CAs identify coaching/mentoring, adaptability, influencing, presenting information, delegating and teambuilding as some of the competencies they sharpened.

This is a day program from Monday to Friday with a required training on Sunday. Company Advisor hours will be from 7:30am-6:00pm.

Be part of a joyful fundraising day that supports Believe in Me’s work for marginalized youth. Volunteers are essential — you’ll meet great people, support scholarships and programs, and help deliver a smooth, fun event. All volunteers receive training, a volunteer t-shirt, lunch, and a heartfelt thank-you from the Believe in Me team.

Shift length: Typical shifts are 4–10 hours, depending on role. Day-of roles often have morning (6:00–12:30), afternoon (11:30–5:00), and evening (4:30–8:30) shifts. Exact times will be confirmed after signup.

Duties/Responsibilities: Repack Project volunteers transform bulk food shipments into family-sized portions that are ready to help feed the community! The Northwest Railway Museum is seeking friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to join our Docent Program, helping share the Museum’s stories, collections, and working railroad with visitors.

The Northwest Railway Museum is seeking dedicated volunteers to join our Train Crew, supporting the operation of historic trains during regular service days and special events throughout the year.

Train Crew volunteers play a critical role in safely operating trains, assisting passengers, and preserving the Museum’s living railroad history. This opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in learning railroad operations in a structured, safety-focused environment.

Train Crew volunteering follows a progressive qualification system, allowing volunteers to build skills and responsibility over time. New volunteers typically begin in entry-level roles and may advance as training and experience are completed.

Typical progression includes:

Conductor’s Assistant (entry-level; no prior experience required) [13+ with parent/guardian]

Car Attendant [16+]

Switchman* [16+]

Diesel Fireman* [18+]

Rear Brakeman* [18+]

Conductor [21+]

Diesel Engineer [21+]

Advancement is based on experience, demonstrated proficiency, adherence to safety rules, and completion of required training. *Certain Train Crew titles reflect historical terminology and are used only in a historical, non-discriminatory context.

Train Crew opportunities are available throughout the year during:

Regular weekend train operations

Special events (Wine Trains, school trains, Day Out With Thomas, Halloween Trains, Santa Trains)

Schedules vary by role and qualification.

Must be 16 years of age or older (13+ with parent/guardian)

Willingness to follow operating rules and safety procedures

Ability to work as part of a team and interact with the public

Commitment to training and safe operations

No prior railroad experience is required to start as a Conductor’s Assistant.

Help restore and preserve historic railroad equipment at the Northwest Railway Museum!

Are you interested in hands-on projects, learning practical skills, or connecting with Washington State and railroad history? Volunteers in our Conservation & Restoration Workshop (CRW) work directly with historic coaches and locomotives, helping ensure these artifacts are preserved for future generations.

CRW volunteers may assist with:

Woodworking and carpentry

Painting and finishing

Metal work and light welding

Mechanical work and maintenance

General restoration and conservation tasks

No prior experience is required — many volunteers learn new skills on the job while working alongside experienced staff and fellow volunteers.

Opened in 2006, the Conservation & Restoration Workshop is an 8,400-square-foot indoor facility featuring two full-length rail tracks, climate control, restrooms, and a visitor viewing gallery. The space is dedicated to the restoration and care of the Museum’s large historic artifacts.

Must be 18 years of age or older

Willingness to follow safety procedures and staff direction

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

The Northwest Railway Museum is excited to welcome volunteers for Day Out With Thomas™, one of our largest and most popular family events of the year! This beloved summer tradition brings Thomas the Tank Engine to life for thousands of children and families — and we can’t do it without the help of our amazing volunteers.

Santa Train is one of the Museum’s most popular events of the year, and volunteers play a key role in creating a welcoming, joyful, and well-organized experience for our guests.

Grounds Crew volunteers assist with guest flow, activities, and holiday cheer throughout the event site. Roles may include:

Trip Assistant volunteers agree to assist the Trip Leader and commit to assisting 2 or more trips, on average, each month. In exchange, Trip Assistant's attraction fees and lunch (if applicable; depending on individual trip) will be paid by VOA.

1. Assist in leading a variety of trips for seniors (50+), building relationships and creating welcoming, warm environment.

2.  Ensuring the safety and quality of experience of guests.

3.  Build positive relationships in one-on-one and via small groups to facilitate connection and belonging.

4. Make decisions utilizing good judgment and solution focus as needed in unexpected circumstances.

Once interested candidates complete and return the volunteer application form, they will be invited to interview with members of the Council.  Aging & Long Term Care Governing Board approval is required before membership begins.

Interested candidates can also attend a PMC meeting to see the Council in action. 

"A Matter of Balance" (MOB) is an award winning program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls.  Class participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors and promote exercise to increase strength and balance.

The MOB program utilizes Volunteer Coaches to teach the eight two-hour sessions.  Classes are held in a variety of community-based settings and are led by two Volunteer Coaches. 

Volunteer Coaches receive eight hours of training by MOB Master Trainers.  Once trained, Volunteer Coaches are provided with the opportunity to observe MOB classes prior to teaching classes themselves. 

Volunteer Coaches should possess good communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, dependability, a willingness to lead a small group, an interest in working with older adults and an ability to perform range of motion and low-level endurance exercises.  Experience in education or health care is a plus. 

Do you enjoy helping other people?  By answering people's questions about Medicare, you could make a difference in someone's life.  Our volunteers are trained and mentored so they can answer a variety of questions.  They are not selling or recommending any insurance product, agent, or company.

Each year SHIBA is in contact with more than 4,000 people to answer their Medicare questions and give them guidance.  We need your help to meet the growing demand. 

There are many ways volunteers can help.  One way is by explaining what care is covered.  Another way is looking into and reporting possible fraud.  Or perhaps you enjoy reaching out into the community to let people know where they can turn for help.  Volunteers assist people by phone, in person and through public presentations.  You will learn a lot and make a difference in the lives of others!

Basic computer skills are helpful.  Client confidentiality, a willingness to provide unbiased information, and no association with an insurance company are all a must.  Activities include one-on-one meetings with people who have questions attending update meetings, and getting to know other volunteers.

POSNA currently has a handful of foster homes for a few of our many pets, and we are always in need of more for cats and kittens. Foster care may involve caring for sick or injured animals, pregnant or underage kitties, or animals that have not had much exposure to humans and need a little TLC to become adoptable.

POSNA has a cat shelter located 10 miles south of Newport, WA, off Hwy 2. We are always in need of volunteers to assist with general daily cleaning, including scooping boxes, filling food and water and also spending some time with our resident kitties.

You and a group of 3-4 others can cook and serve breakfast for our elementary school students who attend the before-school care. This opportunity also includes providing breakfast elements (bacon, fruit, etc.).

When: 6:30am-8:00am Monday-Friday

Commitment: Once per month or more

Before School Care: Begin your day by being a positive presence for Lake Hills Elementary Students before they head to school. Serve breakfast, assist with homework, or invest time getting to know them.

When: 7:00am-7:45am Monday-Friday

After School Care: Come after school to spend time with Lake Hills Elementary students, playing games and helping them with homework as they eat a snack and unwind from the day.

When: 3:00pm-5:00pm Monday-Friday, except Wednesdays. Wednesdays 1:00pm-5:00pm

Commitment Level: Consistent volunteering in the Before and After School Care is encouraged for the children, however there is no minimum commitment level.

We are in need of a handy individual to repair damaged portions of the fencing that surrounds the perimeter of our shelter property in the Diamond Lake area, as well as the chicken wire fencing on our outdoor cat enclosures. General repairs on our shelter building are also needed.

Come and have a sleepover with the children who are staying overnight at The Landing- an emergency placement house for children first entering foster care.  Overnight shifts are from 9pm-7am or 8pm-8am 7 days a week.

Volunteers are asked to serve for a minimum of once a month. We are open 24/7, Washington State does require a few things to complete before volunteering, so inquire about this opportunity and meet with our Volunteer Coordinator to get started! We look forward to meeting you!

The mission of Skookum Kids is to eliminate the pain points that make foster care so difficult, we do this by involving the whole community in the important work of child welfare.  Skookum Kids is a 501(c)3 non profit based in Bellingham, WA.  

Come and spend time with foster children who are staying at The Landing!

Every shift looks different at The Landing, since we have a high turn over rate of the children who come to stay.  We care for kids by providing them a safe and fun environment, participating in activities like Summit Trampoline Park, Creativitea, the movies, and LOTS of parks! 

Volunteers are asked to serve for a minimum of once a month. We are open 24/7 and have many shifts to suit your availability. Washington State does require a few things to complete before volunteering, so inquire about this opportunity and meet with our Volunteer Coordinator to get started!

The mission of Skookum Kids is to eliminate the pain points that make foster care so difficult, we do this by involving the whole community in the important work of child welfare.  Skookum Kids is a 501(c)3 non profit based in Bellingham, WA.  

This monthly event is an awesome (and easy!) way to support foster parents and caregivers in our community.  Volunteers are needed from 5:40-8:45 pm to provide childcare, snacks and games with kids while their caregivers take a few hours off! 

We are eager to host Family Night Out the first Friday in October and November this fall!

Support disaster survivors by answering hotline calls and completing accurate intake interviews in the Crisis Cleanup system so that participating volunteer organizations can evaluate and (when able) provide muck-out, debris removal, tree work, tarping, and other eligible services.

Large donations of food: Community Action's Skagit Food Distribution Center’s warehouse and cold storage facility is equipped to receive large donations of food, and to distribute it quickly to 20+ food banks and meal programs in Skagit, San Juan and Island counties, and via senior food box deliveries to 260-300 low-income seniors. The Food Distribution Center is able to accept cases, crates and pallets of food, up to semi-truck loads that require loading docks and forklifts for transfer.

We ask Lunch Buddy mentors to commit for the school year (from the time you start to mid-June). The time depends on the age of the student but will be up to one hour somewhere between 11:30 and 1:00. There are lunch buddy programs in 16 elementary schools in Kirkland, Redmond and Sammamish.

Volunteer at Paradise Parking Plots Community Garden and support our refugee neighbors! Our 2-acre community garden provides space for refugee, immigrant and Kent resident gardeners to grow cultural foods and reconnect with the soil. Our shared spaces, such as our food forest, rain gardens, pollinator berms, and restoration areas need a lot of love and attention to stay healthy, productive, and beautiful. Volunteers help to ensure this shared site stays maintained and safe for gardeners to continue grow and nature to thrive.

Do you have weekly or bi-weekly availability to help in the garden? We need you! Consistent, returning volunteers are essential to the health of our garden. And best of all, no prior skills are required! We will train and develop you over time so you can work on increasingly more complex tasks like weeding our food forest, controlling pests and diseases, assisting with minor construction projects, managing our mason bees, or whatever else catches your interest and will enhance our community space. Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officers are the behind-the-scenes heroes who coordinate local emergency responses as they unfold. From the comfort of your home, you’ll ensure that people affected by disasters receive the care and support they need by dispatching trained volunteers to the scene.
