We’re looking for energetic, LGBTQIA2S-affirming volunteers to set the stage, march in the parade, sell our signature PRIDE swag (yes, those clack-tastic folding fans!), and wrap everything up when the party’s over. Come help us keep our community fed. We need Drivers to help get food out to the community.  As the largest independent food bank in Pierce County, we are the #1 food delivery service. We provide delivery service weekly to clients who are not able to get to the food bank due to age, disability, or lack of transportation. We also provide delivery to over 100 clients weekly at JBLM.

Eloise’s Cooking Pot has the largest food bank delivery program in Pierce County. As a Driver you will pick up and deliver food and other donations from specific locations.  A Volunteer Driver must have a Driver’s License with a good driving record, Proof of Insurance, and provide their own vehicle.  If providing delivery to JBLM, must have access.  For volunteer safety we provide a designated area to pick the boxes up for deliveries. There are measures in place for safe delivery to the clients.

As a Volunteer Food Bank Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to Eloise’s Cooking Pot Food Bank and the Food Bank Manager. You will work closely with the Food Bank Manager to assure that client delivery and needed tasks are done correctly and efficiently. We are looking for dedicated individuals that are interested in driving food bank vehicles to grocery stores to pick up donated food. This position offers opportunity for creativity! Community Action's family shelter, The Family Development Center, houses 10 families at a time in fully furnished apartment-like units. Because families often come to our Family Development Center from extreme situations, everything from bed linens to lamps and kitchen utensils are needed and lend a sense of belonging and comfort. This position includes stocking the units with household goods donated from our supportive community members and partners. Our goal for these units is quick turnover time so that we may serve as many families as possible.

About the Position:

Group program support volunteers will assist program managers and recreation leaders in supporting teens and adults with developmental disabilities in community-based recreation programs. We often participate in various info fair settings, as well as info table opportunities at other community events, businesses, and venues -- all fantastic opportunities to educate the public in person and 1:1 on our many exciting initiatives, sign people up for our e-newsletter and, most importantly, generate interest in volunteering and/or donating to support our work. You might be the first person a member of the community talks with about us, and you never know who might get involved because of you! As a non-profit, it's extra important we take good care of the tools of our trade - shovels, mattocks, loppers, hand trimmers, etc. - so they can last longer, avoiding unnecessary replacement costs. HIP serves freshly prepared, healthy lunches to seniors as part of Lake City Senior Days three days a week. We are looking for a check-in volunteer who'll greet program participants, check them in (either using a scanner or on paper), and make them feel welcome in that space.

This role will also involve helping seniors check in for a second meal, distributing monthly menus and signup forms, collecting donations, and generally being a point of contact for program participants. We have openings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 12 to 1:45 pm, but anyone who could help on any day would be helpful.

We host an annual event - a poetry contest open to residents of all ages.  For close to 20 years, local poets have been sending us their outstanding creations.  The committee that does all the leg work to make it happen is seeking new members.  You need not be a poet, just interested in helping the arts thrive in our community.  Let us know if you might like to lend a hand.

Committee members collect the poems, select the judges, arrange the celebration of winners, and join forces to provide the rewards that are presented to winners.  Meetings are held to discuss the tasks at hand and assign the duties involved.  We're a fun bunch, & dedicated to keeping this tradition alive in Whatcom County.

Currently, we are in need of a bookkeeper to help us keep track of funds coming in through donations, grants, or other means, as well as keep track of all of our spending on items and services we use that we accumulate throughout the year. Bridge Disability Ministries is looking to place volunteers in our new equipment office location in Redmond!

The Equipment Repair Volunteer will assist with the cleaning and repair of donated durable medical equipment. This needs to be a person who is handy with tools and has mechanical repair knowledge and experience.

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a weekly schedule of about 2 hours for one to two days a week. And we are hoping that person is you!  

As a food organization, we go through many rags and aprons and we'd love your help with laundry! We provide a document with instructions on how to thoroughly clean rags and aprons.

The laundry would be picked up from the HIP kitchen (3841 NE 123rd ST, Seattle, Washington) on Friday afternoons after 12:30 pm. Drop-off can be anytime on Monday, although it’s slightly easier after meal prep is finished at 11:30 am onwards.

We’re looking for volunteers who want to share their talents in the store and provide customer service and support in a fun and ever-changing environment. The BIMA Museum Store specializes in extending the visitor experience by offering locally produced and designed products that highlight the art and craft of the Puget Sound Region. Store volunteers will be a core point of contact with all visitors, and must be comfortable with initiating conversation, helping customers to access store merchandise, learning our point-of-sale system, handling money, and maintaining a general knowledge of store vendors and artists. Safe Harbor Stables in Redmond Washington is seeking dedicated and energetic volunteers to assist with daily barn chores. This is a highly physical role that directly supports the well-being of our rescue horses. No horse experience is necessary and we will train you to do the job.  

As a Barn Chore Volunteer, your responsibilities will include: 

Cleaning horse stalls and paddocks 

Scrubbing grain pans and sweeping barn aisles and shelter mats

Hunger Intervention Program's Senior Meal program prepares meals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for Seniors. While the majority of meals are served at the Lamb of God Church, a portion are delivered to homebound Seniors in the north Seattle area. HIP is looking for volunteer delivery drivers to deliver meals twice a month on Mondays during the lunch hour.

For this position, we're looking for someone who can commit to a 1.5-2 hour shift every other Monday from approximately 11:30 am-1:30 pm. Volunteers will be asked to use their own vehicle but will be reimbursed for gas. Ideally, we will have a consistent volunteer for this position so that they can become familiar with the route.

The Neighborhood Farmers Markets (NFM) is on a mission to support and strengthen Washington's small farms and producers by creating and operating vibrant, successful neighborhood farmers markets. Our seven markets serve over 165 producers, from vegetable growers and orchardists to tribal fishing families and cider makers. In 2023, they enabled more than $14.5 million in local, sustainably-produced food sales to Seattle residents. This effort started with small motivational cards for senior citizens to help them get through this day, and has grown to include seasonal cards for the holidays.

Writing cards for seniors is not only to put lighten up the days of seniors but also to let them know there is a support system outside of their homes filled with loving young members of their community. There is no specific way to make the cards since YOU, the volunteer, have creative liberty. However, we encourage volunteers to use bright colors and inspiring messages to share love for the seniors. We have heard several positive messages from senior homes after receiving cards from SCF. From writing general motivational and inspiring cards to holiday related cards, we give them all.

The Department of Natural Resources ANeMoNe program is currently seeking volunteers to be Site Guardians for our Case Inlet and Anderson Cove monitoring sites. Site guardians visit the monitoring site once every other week and perform a bird survey, eelgrass survey, and check our water sensors for biofouling. Work is approximately two hours per visit. 

We provide training and gear. In general, this work does not require background knowledge or experience but there is of course lots of opportunity to learn!

PEPS is a non-profit organization that connects parents to strengthen families and build community through parent peer-support groups. 

PEPS groups meet weekly and are facilitated by a PEPS-trained Leader. Each meeting allows parents the opportunity to share the week's concerns, successes, issues, and joys as well as time for a discussion on topics related to parenting and children (sleeping, feeding, adjusting to parenthood, etc.) The PEPS program model is based on the 5 Protective Factors from Strengthening Families, which help build resilient families, positive connections and support for parents, and reduce negative outcomes, such as abuse and neglect. 

98% of PEPS groups are facilitated by volunteers who are deeply rooted in our community and passionate about supporting new parents through the first critical months of life with a new baby. Over 4000 families rely on PEPS volunteers each year.

PEPS facilitators are compassionate, empathetic, resourceful, and real. They don't have all the answers, but they are passionate about helping parents, generating ideas, finding information, and building neighborhood communities together.

Some leaders give back as a way of honoring their own PEPS experience. Many are new to PEPS. All tell us they find great joy and satisfaction in helping new parents connect and share through their PEPS groups.

We appreciate warm, sensitive communicators, who are accepting of varied child-rearing practices and diverse lifestyles. Interest in early childhood development, experience in education or facilitation, previous PEPS group participation, or being a parent yourself are welcome pluses.

Groups meet for 2 hrs each week in the daytime [10-:30 - 12:30] or in the Evening [6:30 - 8:30], the same day each week for 12 weeks. Leaders commit to working with their group for 12 consecutive weeks, fewer if you choose to co-lead with a friend, spouse, partner, or colleague. PEPS provides specialized training and group leaders have access to experienced PEPS staff mentorship and a wealth of resources online.

It’s our job to help you have a wonderful, fun, and rewarding experience as a leader. We’ve designed lots of resources and provide training and support all along the way.

Our mentors play a vital role in the success of our school wellness programs. We offer weekly sessions for 6-10 weeks, and we strive to match mentors with specific students for the entire program duration. These sessions can range from 1 hr to 2.5 hr sessions, depending on the age of the group coming. Middle and High School Groups have longer sessions that usually last 10 week (weather permitting). Elementary School has 1.5 hr long sessions that last 6 weeks. 

What Mentors Do- 

Build Strong Relationships: Mentors provide consistent support and guidance to their assigned student throughout the program. This involves building a strong rapport and creating a safe and trusting environment.

Facilitate Meaningful Interactions: Mentors guide students through various activities, often involving horses and other animals, that promote emotional, social, and physical well-being. Promote Personal Growth: Mentors encourage students to develop essential life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and self-confidence. Provide a Positive Influence: Mentors offer a positive role model and a supportive presence in the lives of their mentees.

A strong desire to support the growth and development of youth and children in our community.

Patience and Understanding: The ability to connect with and understand the unique needs of each student.

Some cats need a break from living in a cage. Providing time in your home helps them get get ready to be adopted. Many cats need a quiet patch of sunlight to recover.

Can you help?

Newborn kittens are so small they need foster care until they're big enough to receive span/ neuter surgery.

Among the animals that are eligible to be fostered, you choose which animal that will go home with you.

Foster volunteers are given thorough training, great support and everything necessary-- free pet food, free medical care for the kitty, free litter, free litter box...

When the kitty is ready to be adopted, you may choose to:

We're seeking people to identify grant opportunities, and write/submit grant proposals to cover costs for canine spays and neuters. Donations, fund-raising, and adoptions makes rescuing dogs possible for our non-profit.

Nearly a million healthy animals in the United States are euthanized each year because of overpopulation, and spaying and neutering is the only real long-term solution to the problem. As a foster-based rescue, we can only take in a limited amount of dogs at one time. Our spay and neuter program is an essential step toward our ultimate goal: a world that's free of homeless, neglected, abused, and abandoned animals.

Misunderstood Mutts Rescue (MMR) is a registered 501(c)3, volunteer-operated organization serving the greater Yakima Valley and Puget Sound region. We are dedicated to saving abandoned, free, and throwaway dogs in areas where abuse, neglect, and cruelty are prevalent.

LCSNW Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program receives refugee youth ages 14-17 and places them into foster homes and group homes in the Spokane area. These youth have fled their countries due to war, conflict, and violence in search of safety and a better life. They do not have family to care for them, so our organization works to find them loving homes and reach their goals for success.

Are you willing to open your heart and home to a foster child? We’ll be honest, being a foster parent can be challenging. At the same time, we hear from many foster parents that they have grown from the experience.

In our LCS Northwest foster programs, we recruit, license and support foster parents. We are here to help foster parents so they aren’t in this alone. Our goal is to help you provide a stable home for youth who cannot live with their families. We recruit parents for two different programs – International Foster Care and Domestic Foster Care.

Foster parents and program staff work together to provide a safe haven to refugee and immigrant children from around the world. Refugee youth will be supported in their work to heal from past trauma while they pursue goals of learning English, getting an education, and preparing for a future of independence. Foster families are asked to make a long-term commitment to care for refugee child placed in their home.

A major PRAB objective is to develop public interest in the Parks and Recreation Department’s activities and to solicit, to the fullest extent possible, participation of community groups, the general public, and public and private agencies.
