Overview:
Kulshan Carbon Trust (KCT) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented volunteer to help enhance and maintain our website. Our site is the “front window” for the organization—how we share our mission, invite collaboration, and connect with our community. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for environmental action, user-focused design, and clear communication. You’ll work closely with our team to update content, improve navigation, modernize visual elements, and ensure the site effectively tells the story of our work and impact.

Responsibilities:

Update and refine existing pages to better reflect KCT’s mission, programs, and current projects.

Create new pages for priority areas, such as board/advisor recruitment and partner collaboration opportunities.

Improve visual elements by incorporating authentic images of KCT’s work and events.

Enhance the organization and clarity of project and resource pages for easier navigation.

Teen Link is currently looking for adult volunteers (21+) to supervise the teen link young people phone workers. Working jointly with a Team of four teen link staff members, all of who are active in conducting trainings in school throughout King County. The goal is to engage teens in an open and honest discussion about the stresses and pressures that youth might face. In addition, Teen Link helps youth to identify coping mechanisms and warning signs, and instructs youth on how to intervene on behalf of a friend, if suicide ideation is expressed. This position works with a team of five Teen Link staff members, all of whom are active in conducting trainings in schools throughout King County. Professional training is provided. The WA Warm Line offers phone based peer support to people living with a mental illness using the principles of recovery to enhance the well-being of callers. Volunteer to be a roll player with the SEA TSA K9 Team!

The Transportation Security Administration regularly evaluates screening procedures in order to stay ahead of evolving threats. As one of the TSA's many layers of security, the Passenger Screening Canine Program is no exception to the rule. In order to ensure canines are always prepared for real time threats, the TSA continuously trains and tests the canines' abilities. 

In support of this training, the TSA at SeaTac Airport is in need of volunteer decoys.  Volunteers will serve as mock traveling passengers and participate in training scenarios that rese3mble an everyday traveling environment.

Must be at least 18 years old.

Volunteer Coordinator

DVSAS Volunteer Advocates ensure that no matter when it is, or where they are, victims of intimate partner violence or sexual assault don’t have to be alone. After you've completed your training, you'll be working directly with DVSAS clients. You'll answer calls on our helpline, meet with clients in our office, accompany clients to the hospital for forensic exams, and provide support for clients at hearings.

We ask volunteers to commit to one 4 hour shift per week for a year after your training. Our next training class starts on September 15th!

The Disability Empowerment Center in Seattle is currently working on a project to map out King County to create a searchable database of inclusive, accessible businesses.  The database is on-line and called BluePath (Blue-Path.org).  Anyone can access it to see the accessibility of a business that is listed.

Volunteers are needed to canvas businesses on a friendly basis to ask them if they would like to be listed on the site (it is free).  Volunteers along with business owners/managers then do a quick assessment of the location.  The business will receive a BluePath verified window decal in the mail after being added to the database.

Volunteers will receive training in the Americans with Disabilities Act Title III Public Accommodations, a 2 – hour training that can take place at our downtown office, virtually via zoom, or in-person for teams of 10 or more. 

Volunteers will receive 1 entry per completed survey into the raffles at the end of the Map-A-Thon term (August 8th).  Raffle prizes currently confirmed include:

Seattle Bouldering Project (4 Day Passes with shoe rental, $149 msrp); Argosy Cruises (4 Passes for the Harbor Cruise, $196 msrp); and John’s Crazy Socks (Box of Socks, $150 msrp).

Entering foster care can be incredibly scary and confusing. We provide a soft landing for children when they enter foster care at our emergency shelter in south Bellingham, The Skookum Landing. This house solves what we call “The 72 Hour Problem” by providing a place for children to stabilize and buying time for social workers. We care for kids from all over Western Washington, including Skagit, Whatcom, Snohomish, King and Island Counties. 

Volunteers at The Landing help provide kids staying with us a safe and fun environment, participating in activities like local trampoline parks, going to doctor visits, special outings to the movies, and LOTS of parks! 

Volunteers are asked to serve for a minimum of one 4-hour shift a month. We are open 24/7 and have many shifts to suit your availability. There are previous experience requirements, trainings and paperwork to complete before volunteering, so inquire about this opportunity and meet with our Volunteer Coordinator to get started and learn more!

Skookum Kids exists to mobilize communities to create a healthy foster care system and is a 501(c)3 non profit based in Bellingham, WA.

Summary: The Front Table Volunteer greets and supports guestsand serves as a point of contact for market information.  They distribute direct services to guests, keep the market area tidy and organized, assists in connecting gueststo the correct B2S staff, and more.

Summary:  The Supply Bundler Volunteer helps package goods for distribution through our Mobile Resource Center. They are given a checklist of supplies, which are provided by B2S, to create bundles that are given to unhoused individuals and families.Volunteers are able to either work on site at our administrative building or pick up the supplies and bundle them at home.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Package goods for distribution following a provided checklist, ensuring that all required supplies are included in each bundle. 

Ensure that goods are packaged in such a way that they will not be damaged when transported. 

Coordinate with B2S Program Manager to schedule bundling shifts, or for volunteers who wish to work from home, scheduling pick up times for bundling supplies.

Keep drop boxes and the nearby area clean, picking up any garbage in the immediate area. 

Check in with host businesses to see if any problems have been reported. 

Coordinate with B2S Program Manager toschedule donation drop off times at the B2S warehouse.  

Communicate to the B2S Program Managerthe status of each drop box when checked, including info on any damaged or missing boxes and any problems reported by host businesses.

OUTREACH & EVENTS COMMITTEE

Help build awareness and support for our mission and programs! As part of the Outreach and Events Committee (aka Outreach Otters), you will join us at our info tables at community events and fundraisers like nature trivia at local pubs. Other activities can be done on your own time, like posting flyers, prepping prize bags, and writing thank you cards. Commitment: meets monthly with a suggested one-year term. We ask that you volunteer for a minimum of four community events (average time is 2-4 hours each) per year. NEST is seeking volunteers around NE Seattle interested in supporting their elder neighbors through driving to and from doctor's appointments, classes, grocery stores, social activities, and more. Transportation is our most requested service, with volunteers providing over 50 rides each month.

Reports to:  OB Program Coordinator 

Summary:  The OB Distribution Volunteer helps with product distribution during the designated distribution times.  Provides friendly and patient customer service to patrons of the program.  Shift is once a week for 2 hours.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Greet guests and helps them register and/or place order using the order form. 

Understands program criteria and rules and clearly explains them and answers questions.

Bakers wanted! Our homeless guests love to get something sweet along with their meals, but we don’t always have desserts. We’re looking for people to provide desserts for 150 people. Core volunteers are the foundation of support that StandUp for Kids relies upon to offer support to homeless youth in Kitsap County.  Volunteers may choose from a number of roles to support our mission.  Those roles include: 

Food Bag Assembly: Periodically work with others to prepare weekend food bags, which are distributed to homeless and at risk youth through the school systems. 

Inventory Support: Periodically organize items which are packed into weekend food bags.  May include assisting with picking up donated or purchased items from local outlets. 

Delivery Driver:  Our primary distribution method is to supply schools with food and hygiene packs.  The school partners then distribute them to the students.  Delivery is generally one day on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.  Personal vehicle is necessary to deliver packs. 

Food Drive Support– Help in two hour shifts at food drives, which provide a significant contribution to our weekend food bag distribution. 

Community Outreach Booth Worker– Help in two hour shifts at events like Pride, Whaling Days, etc.  Represent StandUp for Kids, sharing information about how we can help homeless youth, and how people can volunteer or donate to support our efforts. 

Fundraising Auction Support: Assist with our annual auction.  Many opportunities to help at our Fall Gala Fundraiser.

Come help us keep our community fed. We need Drivers to help get food out to the community.  As the largest independent food bank in Pierce County, we are the #1 food delivery service. We provide delivery service weekly to clients who are not able to get to the food bank due to age, disability, or lack of transportation. We also provide delivery to over 100 clients weekly at JBLM.

Eloise’s Cooking Pot has the largest food bank delivery program in Pierce County. As a Driver you will pick up and deliver food and other donations from specific locations.  A Volunteer Driver must have a Driver’s License with a good driving record, Proof of Insurance, and provide their own vehicle.  If providing delivery to JBLM, must have access.  For volunteer safety we provide a designated area to pick the boxes up for deliveries. There are measures in place for safe delivery to the clients.

-Assist in planning, reviewing and guiding marketing, fundraising, sponsorship,  campaigns and events, monthly giving, major donor and swag sales strategies.

-Assist in strategic donor stewardship and engagement efforts with staff

-Assist in soliciting contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals for annual in-kind (good/services) or cash contributions.

-Assist in spreading awareness and cultivating new funding opportunities

-Provide regular progress reports to the Board of Directors.

Time commitment

We ask that Fundraising & Marketing Committee Members commit to at least a one-year term and attend 8 out of 11 monthly meetings (no meeting in December) AND 1-2 hours per month of committee specific tasks. This will provide an overall picture of how our fundraising strategy is executed during any given year.

We are looking for dedicated individuals that are interested in driving food bank vehicles to grocery stores to pick up donated food. This is a physically active position and requires a valid driver's license and experience in driving a box van or similar large vehicle. Drivers and driver assistants are needed 7 days per week for multiple vehicles. Shifts are available on a recurring regular basis and are usually 8am - noon.

This position offers opportunity for creativity! Community Action's family shelter, The Family Development Center, houses 10 families at a time in fully furnished apartment-like units. Because families often come to our Family Development Center from extreme situations, everything from bed linens to lamps and kitchen utensils are needed and lend a sense of belonging and comfort. This position includes stocking the units with household goods donated from our supportive community members and partners. Our goal for these units is quick turnover time so that we may serve as many families as possible.

Group program support volunteers will assist program managers and recreation leaders in supporting teens and adults with developmental disabilities in community-based recreation programs. The Whatcom Literacy Council offers free tutoring services to adult learners from all walks of life. Sometimes we get requests from learners in the community who have identified themselves as having Autism or intellectual disabilities. As a non-profit, it's extra important we take good care of the tools of our trade - shovels, mattocks, loppers, hand trimmers, etc. - so they can last longer, avoiding unnecessary replacement costs. HIP serves freshly prepared, healthy lunches to seniors as part of Lake City Senior Days three days a week. We are looking for a check-in volunteer who'll greet program participants, check them in (either using a scanner or on paper), and make them feel welcome in that space.

This role will also involve helping seniors check in for a second meal, distributing monthly menus and signup forms, collecting donations, and generally being a point of contact for program participants. We have openings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 12 to 1:45 pm, but anyone who could help on any day would be helpful.

We host an annual event - a poetry contest open to residents of all ages.  For close to 20 years, local poets have been sending us their outstanding creations.  The committee that does all the leg work to make it happen is seeking new members.  You need not be a poet, just interested in helping the arts thrive in our community.  Let us know if you might like to lend a hand.

Committee members collect the poems, select the judges, arrange the celebration of winners, and join forces to provide the rewards that are presented to winners.  Meetings are held to discuss the tasks at hand and assign the duties involved.  We're a fun bunch, & dedicated to keeping this tradition alive in Whatcom County.

Currently, we are in need of a bookkeeper to help us keep track of funds coming in through donations, grants, or other means, as well as keep track of all of our spending on items and services we use that we accumulate throughout the year.
