Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group

We envision a healthy watershed ecosystem with abundant and self-sustaining wild salmonid populations in our region enjoyed by present and future generations. We envision the community recognizing SFEG as a leader and integral partner in local salmon recovery. We envision our community is actively involved in the stewardship and restoration of local watersheds and supports our enhancement and educational programs. We envision the community understands the interdependence of the health and well-being of our human communities with the health and well-being of ocean, estuary and river ecosystems.

The Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group was formed in 1990 to involve our communities in habitat restoration and watershed stewardship in order to enhance salmon populations. As a nonprofit and non-governmental organization, we have unique cooperative relationships with local landowners, conservation groups, government agencies, and tribes. We engage the community by leading service learning programs with local schools, teaching lessons within local schools/leading art projects to interest students in restoration efforts and salmon, volunteer work parties to restore local riparian habitat, and working with the community/private landowners to improve habitat through efforts like fish passage barrier removal.
