History of the Volunteer Story Project

More than 1.5 million Washingtonians volunteered during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Volunteers and community helpers selflessly gave their time and talents to help address challenges strengthen their communities in 2020. Serve Washington recognized and celebrated these efforts by collecting and sharing 30 stories of service during 2021's Global Volunteer Month (celebrated in April).  Through this international emergency, the volunteer story project was born.

We will no longer be publishing volunteer stories on the Serve Washington website. Instead, we have dedicated space to recognize service participation on our Get Connected/Galaxy Digital platform for a Volunteer Story Blog. Selected content will also be shared on our social media.
